: I'll second G3's opinion. Glocks have a checkered history. I was in your shoes awhile back, needing to know who made the best hangun. I got absoloutely NO straight answers from anyone, so I had to do some research of my own. I am not a member of the HK religion, so I didnt consider the USP at first. After all my searching, though, I came to find out that the USP was THE BEST out-of-the-box pistol. It beats pretty much every custom pistol for my needs, too. I wanted the toughest, most reliable pistol I could get without sacrificing accuracy, and this is it. I own a USP45 now, and I absoloutely love it. My only bitch is that my hand is a little too large for the slim handle, but I get over it a little more every day. Glockers will tell you this is BS, that the Glock is the best thing since sliced bread. Well, I'm not gonna open that can o worms here, but check www.streetpro.com, look up the USP torture testing, show me a Glock that's been through all that. Touche'. PRICE ISSUES- A new USP45 can be found around anywhere from $499-750 depending on who you ask. If $499's a little too rich for your blood, get a Ruger P90, it's one hell of a gun for the $320 tag. If you look up my link and STILL want a glock, they run about $400-500. I hope I've helped you out some.
What do you mean Glocks have a checkered history? I will agree with you that HK USP is an excellent handgun. If I had enough money, I would probably buy one. However, I have never had any problem with my Glock (or my SIG, I like it too), and I got it with 2 hi caps and night sights for $450. HKs are excellent, but I think they think so too, so they are usually more than I am willing to pay.
