: : My friend is telling me to buy a Glock 23 for my first gun. Is Glock a good brand? What other options do I have. Thanks.
: Personally, I prefer Colt Combat Commanders for carry. They are heavy, but I HAVE bet my life on one {.45 ACP}. I don't like the long trigger pull of the Glock, and a friend hit a man with a Glock, and parts scattered everywhere. He put it back together and it still shoots. I know of more than one incident where they came apart. Lots and lots of people like them, though.
Just out of curiosity, why was your friend hitting someone with it, and how did they hit them? My brother does search and rescue, and he carries his Glock (sometimes they look for criminals) and he was repelling into a quarry and (due to poor rigging on his part, the dummy) his glock drooped about 45 feet onto rocks. The gun was scratched, and the front sight was missing, but it certainly didn't fall apart. It still shoots just fine.
