Another case of JB Weld to the rescue - don't let them disuade you I had this same problem (but not father in law). Just coat your takedown pin well with vaseline and on the side that got wallowed out a bit, just stick a wad of that two part epoxy sold to repair mufflers in the hole, press the pin into place and rubber band the upper tightly down upon the lower, now carefully (like with a toothpick) remove all the excess that shows outside the receiver - any excess on the inside is actually beneficial and will only help to stabilize the upper and lower....but don't go too wild. Now let the banded upper and lower set up overnight. Come back the next eve and with brass punch and hammer lightly tap the pin back in the direction you'd take it down ordinarily. When you open the receivers there'll be some excess but it's easily trimmed back a bit with a knife and can be touched up with magic marker to look mucxh better. This procedure will hydrostatically seat and mate the upper to that specific lower, much as bedding a bolt gun in its stock and the yellow/blue = make green seems to be the stongest and longest lasting. This material can also be removed for refitting later if desired but will take a lot of hard pounding punishment. If you need to remove it later just soak the area overnight with a 30%, 30%, 40% mixture of acetone, chloroform, and carburetor cleaner. It'll gradually soften and can be either remolded or removed with a pick. They sell lots of fixits for this problem but this is the home cure all the top competitive shooters use when their father in laws have been over or are hung over. Tell you what...that dipshit is the one that needs to be forced to sit there hour after hour picking epoxy buggers from around your takedown pins. If all this sounds like too much for the limited capacity you two guys must have, call up Bushmaster and ask them for a set of takedown pin hole liners. Evidently thay've had others like your daddy in law work there and have them in sets from .002 overbore thru like .115, then you can just Black and Decker the holes out to the minimum size you figure you'll need. Or you can also try the patented oversize (one end - sold in rights and lefts) Teflon squeeze through takedown pins and replace the ones you have installed. This would involve even more work for the deaf dumb and blind ole gent to help you with.
